The Greater Kansas City Housing Information Center (HIC) was formed in 1970 to meet the needs of Kansas City area residents experiencing discrimination or other challenges in meeting their housing needs. HIC is governed by a board of directors.

HIC is an approved 501(c) 3 not-for-profit Missouri corporation governed by a volunteer board of directors.  HIC is designated by the US Department of Housing and Urban Development as a certified housing counseling agency.

Our funding comes from Heart of America United Way; the City of Kansas City, MO; Jackson County, MO;  Missouri Housing Development Commission; Johnson County, KS; Overland Park, KS; the state of Missouri; HomeFree USA; and private companies.
